1. Improved quality within clinical documentation

Improved quality within clinical documentationIn order to monitor business activities, assess quality and conduct research efficiently and effectively, all healthcare operations are dependent on structured data (SPD). Swedish titel: Ökad kvalitet inom klinisk dokumentation:

By establishing better structured patient data, it is possible to ensure that limited research resources are not spent on unnecessary work to obtain data that may otherwise be accessible from patients’ records. Within Region Västra Götaland, as well as the rest of Sweden, there are a successful projects being carried out at a number of locations using SPD as support to monitor care and research. An increased dissemination of SPD and a greater understanding of its benefits, as well as excellent examples of its use within the region, would be advantageous. This pilot project aims to identify, quantify and describe the various activities going on in the region which use SPD, and will review the benefits of such successful high quality research.
