The European Territorial Cooperation Objective

The third and final objective of the Cohesion Policy is the European Territorial Co-Operation Objective, and it is covered by the remaining 2,5% of the Structural Funds budget. Like the second objective, the European Cooperation Objective is available to the 168 richest regions, one of which is Västra Götaland. Its purpose is to strengthen cross-border cooperation through joint local and regional initiatives, trans-national co-operation aiming at integrated territorial development, and interregional co-operation and exchange of experience. This objective is also known as Interreg.
