S.M.A.R.T. Eating is a model that shows how we can choose foods to protect both health and environment. The S.M.A.R.T. Eating model has many advantages. For instance it means lower food costs, better conditions for livestock, lower energy consumption, less damage to the environment and increased global justice.
Educational material for S.M.A.R.T. Eating is available in Swedish, directed towards pupils and students from primary schools to universities and colleges, teacher further training, evening classes, restaurant and shop staff and other members of the foodstuff chain staff, as well as environmental inspectors etc. This material has been compiled by the Centre for Applied Nutrition, Department of Public Health, Stockholm County Council.
