Frida Reineholm

Conservation student, Department of Conservation, University of Gothenburg
I have previously studied art science and a two-year education at Gothenburg Art School. It gave me a good foundation before starting my studies at the Bachelor’s Programme in Conservation of Cultural Heritage Objects, where I started my third year this fall.
During my 3-months internship, I've spent most of my time with paintings conservator Ann-Marie. I have had the opportunity to work with several different treatments of paintings, for example filling, retouching, colour consolidation, fabric duplication of easel painting, cleaning and removing of varnishes. I have gained both in-depth knowledge of materials, as well as greater self-esteem by working practically and solving problems.
In the stone department with Carin I have worked with a spade made of ceramic material – i.e. stoneware. The spade's blade had broken and the fragments had changed shape due to internal tension. It was an interesting project, since it included several different features, including compilation, filling and retouching.
I have had a great internship here at SVK. It has been invaluable to spend time with all the knowledgeable conservators here who have shared all their experiences and knowledge with me.
