Sigrid Vinje-Christensen

Master in Archaeology and Conservation, University of Oslo, Norway
During the last term of the master studies in objects conservation I got to spend 5 months as an intern at SVK, department for archaeological conservation. Here I had the opportunity to work on newly excavated finds from a nearby excavation. I worked with different materials, including leather, wood, bone, metals, glass and textile. I have learned active conservation, preventive conservation, condition reporting and packing - all valuable knowledge to my future career as a conservator. My supervisor knew how to balance supported and independent work, something that helped me grow more confident and develop independent thinking.
I had a lot of fun during my time at SVK. All of my colleagues were very welcoming and contributed to me having a good experience.
