Assembly of European Regions (AER)

The Assembly of European Regions (AER) was founded in 1985 and is an independent network with popularly-elected European regions as its members. AER has a total of 200 member regions spanning 35 countries, 14 of which are located in Sweden. These member regions are located throughout Europe, with a relatively large number in new EU countries and countries neighbouring the EU bloc. AER pursues its primary mandate via three committees.
