EU

Region Västra Götaland (VGR) is an active and engaged player on the European stage, working to facilitate meaningful exchanges of knowledge and experience for stakeholders in Västra Götaland, as well as to enable EU funding for West Swedish projects. VGR actively monitors and seeks to influence policy processes at the EU level, while also positioning the region within international organizations and leveraging these as tools for regional development.
An active region on the European stage
VGR is actively engaged in representing the interests and needs of both the region and the organisation within the EU’s decision-making processes. Municipalities and regions are responsible for implementing EU legislation and regulations—indeed, around half of the agenda items discussed at the regional level originate from the EU. To influence policy development in line with our regional priorities, we maintain a presence in Brussels.
