Region of Västra Götaland Brussels Office

Region of Västra Götaland is represented with a permanent office in Brussels. The office's mission is to contribute with an EU perspective to achieve the goals of the region’s main priority areas.
We do so by monitoring policy developments, participating in policy processes, engaging in strategic advocacy work, and building strong connections in Brussels through the networks the Region of Västra Götaland are represented in. We also provide administrative support to politicians and civil servants on site in Brussels.
The Brussels office represents and promotes the region through dialogue with EU institutions, collaboration activities and representing the regional interest in Brussels. The Brussels office is active in the following areas:

- Digitalisation and AI
- Enterprise and Industry
- Environment and circular economy
- Health and care, including life science
- Research and Innovation
- Sustainable Transport and Infrastructure

- CPMR, Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions
- EARLALL, European Association of regional and Local Authorities for Lifelong Learning
- ERRIN European Regions Research and Innovation Network
- SveReg, Informal network of Swedish Regional Representations Offices in Brussels
The region’s main priority areas are outlined in the Regional Development Strategy for 2021–2030, the Strategy for the Transformation of Healthcare in the Region of Västra Götaland 2023–2027, the Public Transport Provision Programme for 2021–2025, and the Cultural Strategy and Cultural Plan for 2024–2027.
