Research area / research interest

My research area revolves around skills supply in welfare, with a particular focus on staff turnover among young and early career workers. The shortage of healthcare personnel is widespread in many European countries and in Swedish welfare, younger employees are the group most likely to leave their jobs. At the same time, the labor market is generally characterized by high mobility, where careers have become less stable and less linear. Against the background of this increased mobility and flexibility, I am interested in what drives staff turnover among young and early career workers in healthcare, and how we can understand this in relation to broader changes in the labor market.

Ongoing research studies

I am a doctoral student in work science at the Institute for Stress Medicine with affiliation to the Department of Sociology and Work Science at the University of Gothenburg. My doctoral studies focus on investigating staff turnover among young employees early in their careers in healthcare. What makes young healthcare workers choose to leave or stay in their jobs? The project aims to contribute knowledge about what makes young and new employees leave or stay in their jobs. Knowledge that can contribute to strategies for retaining young employees and employees early in their careers, thereby securing the supply of skills.
