Simulator Center

teacher instructs students to drive simulator

At Svenljunga Natural Resource School, there are eleven simulators from John Deere, Komatsu, Tenstar, and Vimek. Here, students have the opportunity to practice driving different vehicles in a safe and controlled environment.

Most of the simulators are designed specifically for forestry machines, enabling students to operate harvesters and forwarders. Our four Tenstar simulators contain several different types of vehicles in each simulator, such as tractors, wheel loaders, excavators, forwarders, harvesters, combines, trucks, cars, and telehandlers.

We started using simulators in 2015, and their use has steadily increased since then. Until the spring term of 2022, the focus has been on forestry machines, but during the 2022-2023 academic year, new courses for students have meant that, among others, we have used more excavators and dumpers.

Definitely, driving a physical machine in the forest is the best training, but there are many advantages to simulator training. There is no setup time, you can start practicing driving without having to transport yourself to a machine in the forest, a teacher can instruct ten students simultaneously, it is more cost-effective, environmentally friendly, and, above all, there are almost unlimited opportunities for students to access machines to practice on.
