Arturas Valionis, Vilnius, Litauen

Artūras Valionis (f. 1973) är en litauisk författare, poet och översättare. Han har publicerat fem poesiböcker, en poesiantologi och en e-bok med korta essäer. Valionis dikter har översatts till 14 språk. Hans andra poesibok "Approximately Three" uppmärksammades i Litauen under rubriken "The Poetry Book of 2013". År 2019 fick A. Valionis Vilnius borgmästarpris för sina poesiböcker utgivna 2015 och 2018 och för sin konstnärliga verksamhet och som det uttrycktes av borgmästaren, "för musiken i poesin och för poesin i musiken". Artūras letar ständigt efter nya poetiska uttrycksformer och samarbeten, han initierar och deltar i gemensamma projekt med jazzmusiker och utövare av akademisk musik.
Efter att ha publicerat en poesiantologi 2021 som sammanfattade hans 25-åriga litterära arbete hittills, arbetar Artūras för närvarande på sin nya poesibok, som han hoppas blir en slags nystart och som kommer att öppna ett nytt kapitel i hans poetik. Att skriva poesi till den nya boken kommer att stå i fokus för poeten under residenset på Konstepidemin i Göteborg.

Artūras Valionis (b. 1973) is a Lithuanian writer, poet, and translator. He has published five poetry books, one poetry anthology and an e-book of short essays. Valionis’s poems have been translated into 14 languages. His second poetry book “Approximately Three” was announced in Lithuania “The Poetry Book of 2013”. In 2019, A. Valionis received Vilnius Mayor Prize for his poetry books published in 2015 and 2018 and for his artistic activity (as it was expressed by the Mayor, “for the music in poetry and for the poetry in music”). Artūras is constantly looking for new forms of poetic expression and collaboration, he initiates and participates in joint projects with jazz musicians and performers of academic music.
After publishing a poetry anthology in 2021 that summarised his 25-year literary work so far, Artūras is currently working on his new poetry book, which, as he expects, should be a kind of a new restart and would open a new chapter in his poetics. Writing poetry for the new book will be the primary focus of the poet during the residency at Konstepidemin Göteborg.
